Andrea had been working around the farm all morning, and she was already a bit wet and soggy because it had been raining persistently. Nevertheless, she had a new pair of Le Chameau waders to try-out and so, having finished her chores, she swapped her wellies for the waders and took the opportunity for some R&R.
Only a couple of miles from the farm is a huge area of sphagnum bog – literally hundreds of acres of slop and squelch – perfect wader country! So she parked the pickup on the edge of the moor and strode out across the waterlogged countryside. Her Helly Hansen rain jacket was very much needed as the rain poured down, it trickled into her new waders and made her camo leggings look like they were sprayed on to her legs and bum.
It didn’t take her long to discover that sphagnum moss bogs are just the best swamps for jumping into, rolling around in, and falling backwards into. By the time she was exhausted she was completely soaked from head to toe, she had hair and clothing full of muddy moss, and waders overflowing with brown peat water. How much fun was that!
