Andrea had spent the morning sailing with her girlfriend on their Beneteau First 32. The weather forecast was for squally winds with occasional heavy rain showers; the girls knew this before they set off so, it wasn’t too difficult a job for Andrea to persuade her friend that full foul-weather sailing gear was appropriate… 😉
Sadly, the rain never really materialised and the best she could do in terms of getting wet was to cut back and forth across the waves, creating sheets of spray. Andrea’s sailing gear is really good, and not a drop of water got inside anywhere. How disappointing!
So, the sailing was great, but the staying dry was not what she had hoped for. At times she’d been tempted to fall overboard deliberately, and then to pretend that it was an accident! But she didn’t, and so before heading for home she was determined to get very wet indeed in her sailing gear, and to do so both slowly and deliberately, so that she could enjoy every moment…
Walkers stopped to watch as she splashed in the shallows and then slowly waded into the water. Tourists on the steamers gawped as she swam around in her full sailing gear before stripping down to her swimming costume. You’d have thought that they’d never seen anything like it before…!
