Andrea had been to visit a friend by the coast. On her way home she drove along the side of bay, and saw that the tide was out. She’d had no plans to get wet and muddy on this trip, but the miles of deep muddy gullies, the blue sky, and the off-chance that she had a pair of rubber riding boots in the back of the truck all conspired to persuade her otherwise.
So she parked-up and set off along the breakwater road before turning into a gully, enjoying the feeling of the slippery mud climbing up the shafts of her boots. A couple of careless steps later and she had one wet and one damp sock in her boots. She headed along the gully, with the water and mud getting deeper by the step. And this was all fine until the mud got an unexpected grip of her boots and she fell backwards with a big splat!
There was now no turning back! So, with the cows looking on, she slid, rolled and waded. She slopped, slithered and squirmed. After an hour she was completely plastered in mud, totally exhausted, and ready for the drive home. It’s probably lucky that she took a couple of unexpected dunkings in the flowing water on the way back to the car, otherwise it would have been a write-off inside!
Once home she marched straight into the shower and enjoyed the warm water soaking through her clothes and rinsing away all of the remaining mud.
If the friend she’d visited ever heard of what had happened to Andrea on the way home, she’d never believe it!
